Double Dragon
Double Dragon is, at its heart, a love story and a wonderfully textured silent film. It opens with Billy Lee admiring his girlfriend as she lies in bed.
Such is his love for Marian, a vision of her being abducted by thugs flickers through his head and he is forced to imagine the lengths to which he would go to rescue her.
Psych- he’s actually kind of a perv, and starts to wonder what it would be like to get whipped by twin redheads wearing matching purple leather.
Suddenly he is transported out of his dystopian, hell-hole version of New York into a faraway forest, where he is visited by a mystical redneck, who warns him that if he truly loves Marian, he must face the demons within himself. Or something, that part is actually kind of vague.
Once he has defeated evil-Billy Lee the mystical redneck vanishes, leaving only a giant, floating thumbs-up.
Billy Lee finds himself back in his apartment, Marian has awoken.
